Who we are
A Zambian non-profit initiative supporting the psychosocial wellbeing and healthy development of children living with chronic and long-term health conditions.
When a child becomes ill, their childhood should not become defined entirely by their illness.
Through structured play, literacy, creative arts and connection, we help children keep growing, learning and being seen as children first, in the places where they already receive care. We support children living with conditions including sickle cell disease, cancer, HIV, diabetes and epilepsy.
Our vision
A Zambia where every child living with chronic illness is seen, valued and supported to grow and flourish as a child first.
Our mission
To restore play, learning, self-expression and friendship to the lives of children living with chronic illness, protecting their dignity and development alongside their medical care.
Five things that set us apart
We focus on the child
Not only the condition. Children are friends, learners, creators and storytellers.
We complement healthcare
We do not provide medical treatment or replace clinical mental-health care. We add a psychosocial and developmental layer.
Intentionally developmental
Each activity responds to developmental needs that chronic illness can disrupt.
Close to where care happens
We partner with hospitals, clinics, families and communities.
Our values
Be part of the story
Every story read, game played and friendship made gives a child something treatment cannot.
